Girls 3A Regionals Shallowater vs. Walls 2-26-10

This has to have been to most emotionally charged game packed with excitement, joy and disappointment that I have ever been witness to. To watch Shallowater fall behind by as much as 12 points in the first half to then come back to a 8 point trail in the end of the 3rd period and bring it into overtime just amazed me. The unfortunate conclusion of the game not being in favor of Shallowater just stuns me even now. It was their game to have and it just didn’t happen.
“Shallowater Fillies…you rock! You have some of the largest spirits I’ve seen court side to date. To Wall…you deserve exactly what you got as you fought hard and then harder to pull your win off…hats off to you girls. Both of you.”
Shallowater you need to thank Mrs. Whitten for having me cover this event for you. I know it’s that last game for some of these girls but that is exactly why you need to thank her. You wouldn’t have these images and memories to grab and hang on to without her.

Man I just love little kids and one more over then that I love little kids playing sports! My oldest Cade is in the Mini Dribblers in Sundown this year and here was a fun practice today.

Well I couldn’t pass up the chance to shoot either of these team in the Dome in Levelland so I postponed my XBOX night with the guys a little bit to go. Glad I could get some good shots of Idalou this season for BBall as they had a slew of shots from the football season. Awesome to see both of these teams running in the Playoffs. Hats’ off to both of ya!!!

Ok…well the first day we did our session with Garrett we didn’t get to hit the field for our baseball stuff for the event that was going on. Garrett didn’t feel like modeling for all the player on the field that day so we went back the next day. Here is Garrett and his passion.

My first venue into the Texans home court in Levelland at SPC. Gotta give props to the lighting in the place…it’s pretty good I still added a little of my own but not much. Hats off to the Texans and Lady Texans for putting up a good fight…

Ok here are some of the hot shots from the Hereford Levelland games on 12-15-09. I wasn’t in too much of a rush as I’m sure not too many folks were just dying to see this game from Levelland. Never the less I gotta give props too Hereford for being as strong as they were.

They were having a fund raiser for a family in need with a huge turnout. Do to my schedule that day I was only able to stay for just a short time but in my few moments while there I was amazed at the abilities showcased at this facility. Crazy stuff! I hope I can go again to get some more action shots…this is pretty cool stuff.
Levelland ISD Basketball Invitational 2009 – Championship Game Levelland vs. El Paso Irvin 12-05-09

EPIC…is the best most powerful word I can find to describe this game. If you were there then you know what I mean as both teams were fantastic and the results into overtime proved it. Big congrats to the Loboettes for pulling this one out on top.
The gallery is in the sports section with about 700 shots and each image is both in color and one of my favorite black and white treatments. I felt this game needed a little extra attention…so I gave it some.
Levelland Basketball Invitational 2009 Day 01

From what I have been able to watch so far the action has been nonstop. A huge upset for Horizon over Godly. Just amazing to see this one unfold….Horizon is 5 down with 45 seconds in the game and with nothing more than pure determination they pull it off with with two buckets the last 2 pointer at the 1.4 second mark in the game on clock and get a foul on the play to put #14 in the hot seat with 1 free throw. She nailed it…game over.
Levelland dominated Bel Air with a 20 point gap…no one on the Loboettes looked like they broke a sweat.

6 Man Football Qtr Final Playoffs Borden County vs. Sands at Lubbock 11-28-09

Amazing talent and determination with a relentless drive to win was easily seen on both teams clearly. Borden however is just a well oiled machine geared to dominate…and they did. Sands never gave up you could see that in their eyes but their will just couldn’t overcome Bordens drive.

6 Man Football Playoffs Motley County vs. Miami in Silverton 11-27-09

First of all I have to say that this was a challenging stadium as the lights were defiantly on the low end of the scale which has made these photos on an average fall bellow my usual standards on quality. The low light makes it very difficult to get nice clean shots consistently especially with my ISO averaging about 12,800 most of the night…you photogs will appreciate that. So to say the least the photos are a little grainy and the crops are not as tight as usual…this just couldn’t be helped.
My trek to Silverton which was a 260 mile round trip for me was my first venture into 6 Man Football. Man was I tired! These two teams were insatiable with their appetites for scoring and needless the say the action was non-stop.
Unfortunately with my time spent on the field I was able to take about 1400 shots only to have 556 images left after my first run through in edits…but hey something is better than nothing right…especially for a 1/4 Final 6 Man Championship Football Game.
Find your way over to the gallery and look in the sports section and then football. I’ve added a 6 Man category to football so it’s gonna be pretty easy to find.

Playoff Football Littlefield vs. Riverroad in Plainview 11-20-09

This was a hardcore game all the way down to the last 6 seconds and the last long bomb pass into the end zone. I am amazed at the talents on both of these teams…guess that’s what they were both in the Playoffs. I took about 700 shots and knock it down after edits to about 350. ….this one is hard to describe. It’s make it or break it for both teams in this game and 4 quarters later it’s sudden death overtime two times over to decide it. No losers in this game…trust me I watch everyone out there and there were no losers on that field. Hats off to Crane full pulling it out in the end and to Idalou for never given up. It was fantastic watching you guys play this game thank you for inviting me to be a a part of it.

The opening game for the Loboettes and Lubbock Monterey varsity basketball teams looked more like a wrestling match at times then a basketball game. It’s all good! I managed about 500 shots in the game but cut it down to a modest 210 that I have put into the gallery. Just go to the sports section under basketball…it’s the only one in there so far.

Midland Invitational Swim Meet 2009 Race Day 11-07-09

This is just a post to let you know I have finished with the race day photos from the Meet on Saturday at the COM in Midland. This was probably one of the hardest things I have tried to photograph to this point in my life. I took about 1600 shots during the day and only ended up with 600ish in the gallery. That is a very high attrition rate for me. It was still fun though. Enjoy the photos folks the gallery is up in the sports section under swim meets.
The Midland Invitational Swim Meet – Diving – 2009 11-6-09

My coverage of the Invitational began Friday with diving. They had some really great athletes show up from all over Texas with some incredible talent and control exhibited. I was able to capture most of the dives and have place them in the gallery system under the Sports section connected with Swim Meets with 2 galleries containing about 750 photographs each.
Just a note: 90% of the photos in the galleries are not edited. Unlike the photos in this post I have not edited the gallery photos at all. So expect them to look even better upon ordering.
Note number 2: With the large number of photos in each gallery if you don’t have a fast connection be patient with it as the gallery may not work smoothly until everything has loaded fully. You can also turn the music off to help just click the moving bars and press stop.
Big thanks goes out to the Bulldogs Booster Club for their hospitality and extending me the opportunity to be here for the event. The race coverage for Saturday will post in a later topic.

Dustin Smith #21 for the Lobos was fantastic with the pressure he had on his shoulders…hats off to ya Dustin!
Highlights for half time included the “Red Ribbon Week Kids” covering the football field with ribbon from one end to the other. The bulk gallery is in the sports section where several photos of the halftime events are included as well.
